Arnold Schwarzenegger is an actor and former bodybuilder who was first elected as Governor of California in the 2003 recall election and won re-election in 2006. He officially endorsed McCain for the Republican presidential nomination on January 31, 2008. Schwarzenegger's first political appointment has been to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, on which he served from 1990 to 1993. He was nominated by George H. W. Bush, who called him "Conan the Republican."
